Is the event open to everyone?

This event is open to the public. All attendees aged 18 and older must present a REAL ID-compliant form of identification for gate access. Attendees ages 15–17 must present a valid school ID, while children under the age of 14 do not require identification.

From the official JBLE website:

The REAL ID Act, passed by Congress in 2005, officially went into effect June 6, 2017; however, DHS issued a grace period for enforcing the act for most states not currently in compliance with the REAL ID Act. All non-compliant states/territories that do not have an extension will be subject to REAL ID enforcement at TSA checkpoints as of May 7, 2025.

People with currently-valid DBIDs ID cards will maintain access to the installation; however, if the card expires after the date of the REAL ID Act enforcement, they will need a valid form of identification to renew it.

A current list of state compliance and extension statuses is available at https://www.dhs.gov/real-id/virginia

More information and updates on the REAL ID Act will be posted at https://www.dhs.gov/real-id-public-faqs# as they become available.
