for another school year with school supplies giveaway & fun!
Join us for the Back to School Block Party on Thursday, August 6, from 4–8 PM for an evening packed with family fun! Enjoy music, games, a school supplies giveaway (while supplies last), and a free Serving Heroes meal at 5pm. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the end of summer and gear up for a successful school year. We can’t wait to see you there!
Ready to get your supplies? It’s simple! We ask our attendees to begin lining up with your kids by the CYP table. Supplies will be given out at exactly at 4pm. So get there bright and early!
Feel free to enjoy the info booths and resource tables to get more useful goodies.
Vibe and dance to our family friendly music by our local DJ. We’ve got inflatables, petting zoo, glitter tattoos, balloon art, and surprise guests for meet and greet!
Enjoy a free meal courtesy of the Gary Sinise Foundation Serving Heroes! This month’s meal will be catered by Firehouse Subs. Remember, it’s first come first served. So line up by 5pm and claim your free meal. Only 1 person and must be present to claim.

Is this event free?
Yes! No reservations or purchases are required. This event is free for our military community and its guests.
Is the event open to everyone?
The event is open to everyone with base access. Individuals outside the military community are required to get sponsored by a DoD ID holder. All parties must visit the Visitor’s Center during office hours to receive access to avoid delays and being turned around at the gate.
All non-DoD personnel aged 18 and above will undergo a criminal history check using VCIN/NCIC to obtain base access. Reference https://www.jble.af.mil/Home/Base-Access/ for additional details.

What are the age restrictions for the event?
The event is open to all ages. All underage children are to be supervised by an adult.
How can I get there? Where can I park?
FCC Stage, 950 Jefferson Ave, Fort Eustis
(Formaly TRADOC Stage)
Parking will be around the stage that is not being blocked by security cones.
Are the kids activities free?
Will there be food & drinks for sale?
Free meals will be provided by the Gary Sinise Foundation catered by Firehouse Subs.
Limited meals available on a first-come, first-served basis. One meal per person. Must be present to claim.
Food truck options will be available on site. It is recommened to bring extra water to stay hydrated through the evening.
What should I do if I lose something at the event?
Reach out to the event staff or security on-site for assistance. For lost children, please reach out to the stage or DJ booth for assistance.
What happens if inclement weather occurs?
We will be announcing on our social media pages and on here on updates before/during the event date. Cancellation is possible if severe weather warnings are imminent.
Heat Advisory or Heavy Rain – Location will be moved indoors to the Child & Youth Programs Building in 1102 Pershing Avenue.
